Spy photographers have caught the 2020 Audi TT RS testing at the Nurburgring.

Sporting a facelift, the compact sports car appears to be getting new front and rear fascias, along with subtle changes to its side skirts to match. Overall, however, the changes look to be subtle and that’s a good thing, as the current TT RS looks properly aggressive. Do expect some minor changes to the headlights as well.

Unfortunately, since the prototype was making test laps at the Nurburgring, our spy photographers weren’t able to capture photos of the car’s interior. It’s likely it will benefit from an updated infotainment system and new advanced driver assistive technologies.

Under the hood, however, the current 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine should remain. Improvements may be done to boost performance while cutting back on emissions, but buyers likely won’t complain if it doesn’t improve on the current 400 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque output.

The entire Audi TT lineup is getting a refresh, so expect to see the high-performance RS variant debuting sometime next year before heading to dealerships as a 2020 model.
